Short answer

A rental can suit an itinerary with repeated independent driving; a private transfer can suit a stay where the vehicle would mostly remain parked. Compare the complete rental quote and conditions with the transfers you actually need. Do not decide from a headline daily rental price alone.

Read the complete rental offer

Ask the rental company about the total price, deposit, accepted payment card, required documents, driver restrictions and included coverage. Check any excess, exclusions and additional-driver charge in the actual contract. Avoid assuming that a card benefit or third-party policy replaces the rental company's requirements.

Confirm opening hours, pickup location and what happens if the flight is delayed. Ask about fuel, mileage, road restrictions, one-way returns and the late-return calculation. These terms can change the comparison even when two offers display the same daily rate.

Consider how often you will actually drive

List the journeys you expect to make during the stay and check parking at each accommodation. A resort holiday with one airport arrival and one departure has a different transport need from a multi-stop road itinerary. Include navigation, driving comfort and time spent collecting or returning the car.

After a long overnight flight, assess whether you will be ready to drive an unfamiliar route. A transfer for the first night and a later rental may be worth comparing. This is an itinerary choice, not a claim that every visitor must hire a driver.

Plan the final airport return

A rental return may require refuelling, inspection and a shuttle or walk to departures. Ask the company where the return takes place and allow that time in addition to the airline's airport-arrival requirement. Do not use the curbside drop-off time from a private-transfer estimate as the full rental-return allowance.

For a private ride, verify the passengers, bags, hotel entrance and confirmed fare. If comparing several transfers against a rental, include all routes rather than only the cheapest airport leg. Keep each quote in the same currency and separate refundable deposits from actual trip costs.
