Start with your exact destination
Enter the hotel or apartment address rather than just 'Santo Domingo'. Zona Colonial, Piantini and the eastern side of the city are different trips. An airport-to-Bávaro journey is also very different from a short city ride. Check the map pin and final address before comparing prices.
Use the same party size for both quotes. Six travellers, six large cases and a stroller may require a different vehicle from six people with carry-ons. A low app estimate for a smaller car is not a like-for-like comparison with a vehicle confirmed for your entire group.
Read the current pickup and reservation terms
Uber's SDQ page directs passengers to the app for current meeting instructions. It also describes advance reservations, subject to the options available for the journey. Read the waiting and cancellation conditions attached to the option you actually book. Do not assume every product shown on a general airport page is available at your time and location.
With any provider, distinguish a request from a confirmed booking. Check what the confirmation says about the arriving flight, how to contact the driver and what happens if you are not ready. If you switch providers, close or cancel the original request under its terms rather than leaving two cars expecting you.
Compare total cost, not a headline fare

For a group, calculate the cost of the vehicles actually needed. For a long-haul journey, compare direct travel with the complete cost and time of any alternative, including getting from the airport to a bus departure point and from the destination stop to your hotel. Convenience has value, but it should be explained rather than hidden inside a claim that every competing option is unreliable.
When either option can make sense
An app ride may suit someone travelling light who can use the current pickup instructions and is comfortable checking availability after landing. A pre-booked private transfer may suit travellers who want their destination, group capacity, child-seat request and meeting arrangement discussed before the flight. Neither description is a guarantee of a particular driver's availability.
If you require a specific child seat, accessible vehicle, unusual luggage space or a long-distance stop, get explicit confirmation from the selected provider before relying on the booking. A generic vehicle category or a note typed into a request is not the same as acceptance of that requirement.
Verify the vehicle before boarding
For an app ride, compare the driver and vehicle information with your booking inside the app. For our private transfer, verify the details through the original dispatch conversation. Do not change to an unverified car because someone at the terminal says they work for your provider. If something does not match, resolve it before loading your bags.
Save a backup contact and destination screenshot before travelling. If mobile data fails, a prearranged plan is more useful than trying to make a new transport decision while disconnected. Keep your chosen provider informed if baggage collection or another airport process delays you.
