When to leave your hotel for SDQ: calculate the return pickup

Start with the airline, then calculate the road

Check the booking confirmation or airline app for your airport-arrival recommendation and hard deadlines. Checked bags, document verification, assistance or an international connection can affect the time you need. Online check-in does not remove every airport procedure, and a boarding time is not the time to enter the terminal.

For illustration only: a 14:00 departure with an airline instruction to arrive three hours early means reaching SDQ by 11:00. If dispatch plans one hour on the road plus a 30-minute contingency, pickup would be 09:30. Those numbers explain the calculation; they are not a universal timetable for every hotel or airline.

Choose the pickup point and finish checkout first

Agree the exact lobby or accessible entrance with dispatch. Large resorts can have several receptions; apartment buildings may require security clearance. Give the property name and pin, and ask reception about vehicle access before the driver arrives.

Set your own reminder earlier for packing, collecting stored bags and settling hotel charges. If several rooms share a vehicle, use one group meeting time before the driver pickup. The planned road buffer should not be consumed by unfinished checkout or a missing passenger.

Reconfirm when the flight or itinerary changes

Send a changed flight number and date to dispatch, especially when a rescheduled flight crosses midnight. A new airline departure time does not automatically update an existing vehicle reservation. Ask for written confirmation of the revised pickup.

Do not move the pickup later solely because an app initially reports a delay; follow the airline's check-in instructions. If you are already running late, call dispatch immediately and tell the airline where needed. Nobody should promise to recover lost time through unsafe driving.
