Tipping your SDQ transfer driver: optional tips and agreed fares

Keep an optional thank-you separate from the confirmed transport price.

Short answer

A tip is optional and separate from the agreed transfer fare. There is no required percentage or mandatory tip added by this guide. Settle the confirmed fare first, then decide whether and how much you want to give for the service received. Ask about change before paying with a large banknote.

Start with the written price

The booking confirmation should identify the destination, vehicle arrangement and fare. Published zone prices include the stated taxes and tolls. An optional tip should not be used to explain an unexpected mandatory charge, and a disagreement over an extra stop should be resolved with dispatch rather than folded into a gratuity.

If your group splits the fare, agree who will pay the driver. Several passengers independently adding money can make it unclear whether the fare is fully settled or a tip is intended. One person can confirm the payment total and any voluntary addition with the driver.

Choose an amount without pressure

There is no single correct amount for every passenger or journey. Consider your own budget and the help you received rather than treating an internet percentage as a local requirement. You can also thank the driver directly or leave a truthful review of your actual trip.

Do not feel obliged to give a tip in order to obtain the service already included in your booking. If the agreed child seat is missing, the destination is wrong or another booking detail is unresolved, contact dispatch and resolve that issue on its own merits.

Make the payment clear

Our stated fare currencies are USD and DOP. If you intend to pay in pesos, confirm the peso amount or conversion basis before travel. If you want to leave a cash tip in another currency, check acceptance instead of assuming the driver can readily use it.

Say clearly whether a cash amount is the fare or includes a tip. Ask about change early and check the booking conversation if anything is unclear. For a return transfer, the second journey has its own fare and may have a different driver; an outbound tip is not part of the return payment.
