Flying into SDQ for Saona Island? Plan Bayahibe and the Boat Separately

Published by A&M Caribbean Group SRL · Published

An SDQ airport transfer does not take a car onto Saona Island. Plan a mainland destination in Bayahibe and a separately confirmed boat excursion. Decide whether you are going to accommodation first or directly to the operator’s meeting point, check any transport already included in your tour, and have each provider confirm its own service.

Choose accommodation or an excursion meeting point

Dominican Republic Tourism identifies Bayahibe as a gateway for boat excursions to Saona. A Bayahibe or Dominicus hotel reception and an excursion office or beach meeting point are different destinations. Copy the full address from your accommodation confirmation or tour voucher. Send SDQ VIP the actual vehicle-accessible point; the island name alone is not a road-transfer destination.

Check transport already included in the excursion

Read your excursion confirmation before ordering another vehicle. Ask which pickup and return locations are included and whether the service applies to your actual hotel or airport itinerary. Hotel transport does not automatically include collection from SDQ. If choosing a separate private car, agree the change with the tour operator first; do not assume a refund, credit or replacement service.

Assess arrival day against the actual check-in requirement

Give the operator your flight and local arrival date, and obtain the required check-in time, not just boat departure. Immigration, bags, customs, meeting the driver and the road journey all follow landing. Ask dispatch to assess the actual route with contingency. If the plan does not allow enough margin, consider a confirmed hotel stay before a later excursion. No transfer booking guarantees that a boat waits for a delayed flight.

Use the operator’s current meeting instructions

Use the latest voucher to establish whether you meet at an office, beach point or another agreed location. Request a map pin at the car entrance and a reachable receiving contact. Confirm luggage acceptance and storage with the operator or hotel; an excursion may not accommodate your airport suitcases. Leaving bags in a car or retaining the driver for the day requires an explicit arrangement, not an assumption.

Request the right VIP ground-transfer quote

Send flight, local date, exact mainland destination, passengers, bags, child-seat and assistance needs. Request availability, vehicle capacity and the total in writing. Existing destination pages describe published VIP zone fares; dispatch confirms the actual excursion meeting point and any extra stops. Boat tickets, park charges, meals, guiding, storage and waiting are not automatically part of the road fare. VIP ground transport does not establish a particular boat-tour category.

Confirm where the excursion ends and what comes next

Ask the operator where and when you return to land, then confirm the onward car journey to your hotel or airport. Published itineraries may change with weather or operating conditions; notify both providers and agree revised plans. For an onward flight, use the ticket’s airport and airline-required arrival time, road allowance and contingency rather than assuming the scheduled boat return protects the connection. Keep each written confirmation; a request alone does not reserve a vehicle.
